You have a great face for radio…

Another incredible thing happened yesterday (I think incredible is my new word…). We went to the theater in Burlington to pick up our tickets and there was a radio road show guy there for Alice 103.3 and 93.7. You know, with the van and the speakers and the free stuff? Well free stuff was the operative word so I told Mike (my sister’s fiancee) to let me out so I could ask the guy for something. However he was on his cell phone sitting in his van at the time so I held my cards and got my tickets. Then we went to the University Mall and waited for the show to start.
When we got back the guy had packed all the equipment up and was getting ready to leave. I leaned into the passenger side window and said
“Hey ya’ got any swag left?”
He rifled through the back seat and said
“I might. Do you listen to Alice?”
I did, so I said.
“Yeah, I started listening a few months ago when the Buzz started to suck.”
“That’s what I like to hear,”
he said.
Then he gave me a card to fill out for Six Flags tickets and a t-shirt. As I was filling out the card I mentioned that I was the Production manager at WQKE. It turns out that he was also the Production Manager at Alice and that he also does a morning show there. Then he asked me if I had an air check. i said no but I was working on it. He said to e-mail it to him when it was done and then he asked if I needed an internship. I said yes and then he said that he was the head of the internship department at Alice and I said cool. We talked a bit more about equipment and software and then we parted ways. It was really cool to meet someone in the business who was actually interested in what I do at the station. I’m gonna get my air check done next semester. Woo!
