…The Chinese government has announced the development of a new technology that will limit the use of multiplayer online games to three hours or less. Included in the list of games are “World of Warcraft” and “Lineage II.” The sytem works by limiting the abilities of a player’s character after a set amount of time. After three hours, the character’s ability level is cut in half, and after five hours the character’s level goes to the lowest level allowed by the game. Additionally, players will also have a greatly reduced chance of finding good items within the game. Because having a high level character and finding good items are a very large aspect of the gameplay in these types of games, this sytem will very effectively reduce the time youth spend playing games.
