Freezing rain…

…Last week myself, my lovely fiancee Sarah, and my best buddy Brian spent our Christmas vacation at Sarah’s parent’s house in Horseheads, New York. It is about six hours south of where we live in Plattsburgh. We had a fun time sleeping late, watching movies, and making wedding plans (just Sarah and I).
We left this afternoon at about 1:30. Brian was in one car and Sarah and I were in another. Our goal was to be home by seven o’clock, in time for a few episodes of Friends. (I got season eight, for Sarah, for Christmas). After two solid hours of driving, Sarah’s phone rang. It was Brian’s mom. She told us that I-87 was going to be closed off due to freezing rain. It seemed odd because we had warm air and sunny skies for the whole trip. I called my sister and she told us the same thing. It was practically an ice storm. So, we decided to stop in Albany for some food and fuel. I am typing this as I sit in Brian’s dorm room at Albany State. We will stay for the night, safe and warm, and return home in the morning.
