You read it here first…

IGN recently posted an article discussing the possible problems with the SmartJoy FRAG keyboard/mouse adapter for the Xbox. I seem to recal an earlier post of mine that raised the same questions.

Ha, i still think the key board thing is lame, but who knows, just one more excuse from people i kill “the key bored messed up”.

Haha. You think you’ll be able to kill people without a keyboard of your own? We’ll see, we’ll see.

Couple of things. Congrats on the engagment! I’m really happy for you and Sarah. As far as the controller vs. keyboard thing. I think that the keyboard is very simular to split screen. What I mean is that yeah the person with the keyboard is going to have an advantage over the person with the controller, but it’s not like the keyboard is only avaiable to certain people (not figuring in cash flow and or internet access). So just like the issue of screen peaking with split screen, you can sit there and bitch about and annoy the hell out of everyone else, or just like screen peaking, you can use it as a tool and incorperate it into your arsenal of tricks.

Jordan, true, however when one person can screen peek, usually everyone can screen peek. With the SmartJoy you have may have a situation where ten people are in a Slayer match and only one of them has the adapter. If that one person is winning how can anyone properly judge his skill compared to the other players? It’s not as if EVEYONE can get one. It is a fairly pricey Hong Kong import, $30.00 USD + rather high shipping rates. It would be safe to assume right now that the vast majority of players won’t have access to a SmartJoy FRAG. The only reason I don’t consider screen peeking cheating is because anyone can do it and it can be developed as a skill much like using a rocket launcher or the sniper rifle. The Keyboard/Mouse adapter can only be fair if everyone in the match has access to one.

This isn’t to say that when mine comes in the mail I won’t use it to completely annihilate my competition. I’m just saying it’s not the same as screen peeking.
