Family Pendant

When my son was born, I wanted to give my wife some kind of jewelry to commemorate it. My mom wore a mother's ring with her children's birthstones. I knew my wife would like a necklace. I decided to design it myself and have it 3D printed.

I started with a sketch:

Then, I spent many evenings at the kitchen table, with Nick in my arms, going through Blender tutorials. I learned a lot about basic mesh editing, retopologizing, and making a model suitable for 3D printing.

I printed the model at Shapeways. She loved it.
